Job Summary: This position is responsible for the gathering, analyzing, and reporting of compliance information related to the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA).

 

Under the direction of Compliance Officer

Essential Duties:

  • Identify loans which may be HMDA reportable utilizing queries, HMDA sheets from lenders, and decline notices
  • For loans or declines determined to be HMDA reportable, gather information necessary to be recorded on the Loan Application Register (LAR)
  • Validate the data entered onto the LAR, ensuring that each data point is supported by documentary evidence from the loan or loan related file
  • Work independently with lenders, the Compliance Officer, and management to resolve actual or potential HMDA data discrepancies or conflicts
  • Prepare entries into the LAR accurately and in a timely manner
  • Participate, as a team member, in HMDA Committee meetings
  • Represent the Bank, in association with the Compliance Officer, in audits and exams related to HMDA compliance
  • Submit the validated LAR annually as instructed
  • Required training and compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering policies, procedures, including identification of suspicious activity, CTR (Currency Transaction Report) preparation and other job specific policies/procedures pertaining to this position
  • May perform other duties and cross-train as required by business needs

 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Strong understanding of bank's core computer systems, CIF functions, loan codes
  • Strong familiarity with computer online systems
  • Ability to identify and prioritize task requirements, monitor progress toward accomplishment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain organizational structure
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and prioritize work, with special attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of bank regulations and bank operations and uses his/her technical and interpersonal /problem-solving skills
  • Strong clerical skills including filing, typing, 10-key, and answering the phone
  • Skills in the operation of a personal computer, online systems, word processing, spreadsheet software, and intra/internet
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to operate a fax and copy machine
  • Ability to drive and/or travel to other bank locations as needed

 

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position constantly
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and other office machinery; such as a copy and/or fax machine
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery; such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer
  • Frequently communicates with lenders, the Compliance Officer, and management to resolve actual or potential HMDA data discrepancies or conflicts. Must be able to exchange information in these situations
  • Ability to transport file boxes to another work location (records vault)
  • Ability to drive and/or ride in a vehicle to attend training or required meetings

 

Education / Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires strong familiarity with computer online systems and 1 to 2 years experience in a banking/financial institution.
