Job Summary: Services a wide variety of business and individual loans, both secured and unsecured.  Accountable primarily for providing services for commercial loans but may handle some installment loans.This position typically requires 1-5 years prior commercial lending experience, strong credit and analytical skills, and knowledge of bank services.

Essential Duties:

  • Interviews applicants to develop credit and financial information to determine if the loan is an acceptable risk.
  • Ensuring loan application packages comply with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Makes decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits, or makes recommendations to superiors.
  • Obtains credit information from investigations.
  • Reviews collateral pledged to ensure that margin requirements are maintained.
  • Develops and maintains account relationships, both credit and non-credit.
  • Prepares and presents for approval credit analysis on all borrowing requests to the loan committee or Chief Credit Officer.
  • Follows current loans to ensure complete compliance with terms, through reviews, analysis and proper documentation.
  • May coordinate some collection efforts.
  • Maintains customer relationships and promotes additional bank services and products.
  • Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase or retain business.
  • May participate in business development activities.
  • Rectify deficiencies when appropriate.
  • Represent Bank of Eastern Oregon within various community service organizations.
  • Complete required training and compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering policies,      procedures, including identification of suspicious activity, CTR (Currency Transaction Report) preparation and other job specific policies/procedures pertaining to this position.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as required by business needs.

Education / Experience:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business or closely related field and one to five years progressively responsible experience in commercial lending.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • One to five years progressively responsible experience in commercial lending.
  • Ability to develop and maintain organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of lending laws and practices.
  • Strong analytical and credit skills, and a good knowledge of bank services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills in the operation of a personal computer with word processing and spreadsheet software and intra/internet.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate a variety of activities.
  • Ability to operate a fax and copy machine.

 Physical Qualifications:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position constantly. 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and other office machinery; such as a copy and/or fax machine.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery; such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and/or customers who have credit and financial inquiries.  Must be able to exchange information in these situations.
  • Constantly assesses information from computer, manuals, spreadsheets and other bank systems.
  • Ability to transport file boxes to another work location (records vault).
  • Ability to drive and/or ride in a vehicle to attend educational training or required meetings.
